Google & 9/11 Museum: The Call to Serve Exhibit Most people don’t know our military deployed into danger in Afghanistan in the days after 9/11. They were there so soon they had to borrow horses. Google Maps teamed up with the 9/11 Museum during Veterans Week with a special installation exhibit that let the veterans tell their stories. Nine military veterans from the Marines, Army Special Forces, and Coast Guard shared in their own words, with old photos and videos, and marked each moment on the map.
Role: Concept, copy, production
The Event Poster "The Horse Soldier" statue at the museum represents the Special Forces who were on the ground in Afghanistan before their equipment arrived, infiltrating Taliban on horses borrowed from local tribesmen. Our exhibit featured one of those soldier's stories.
The Ceremony The veterans and service members from our exhibit were honored with a special ceremony at the museum.
